WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR:

BACKGROUND:
Born in Switzerland to classical musicians, I was raised to become a classical violinist. Fed up with music and ready to give it up at age 15, everything changed when I switched to guitar and discovered a passion for writing and recording my own music.
I went on to get a Bachelor in classical guitar and a master in pedagogy from the University of Zürich, Switzerland (former Conservatory of Winterthur). I then moved to Boston, MA to extend my studies in jazz and songwriting at Berklee College of Music, where I was one of the winners of the song-writing competition.
Tired of the cold I moved to LA and started producing and re-mixing artists which led to form a production duo called S.A.F. (Swiss American Federation) which produced more then 50 major artists such as Nelly Furtado, Luis Fonsi, Paul van Dyk, Peter Gabriel, En Vogue, Alice Cooper, Cindi Lauper, Luther Vandross, Erasure and many more leading to several top 5 Billboard Hits including 2 #1 Hits. Celine Dion’s “A New Day Has Come” which broke the record for most weeks at number one on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart, staying there 21 weeks. I also produced a bootleg remix for Enya’s “Only Time” that went to #1 and helped make her record the 5th best selling record of that year in the US with an estimated 16 Million copies sold.
Besides aspiring to make well know artists shine as a producer, I was consistently writing and releasing original music for my own duo AURAH (aurah.com). We released 7 albums under our label Very Music, Inc. (very-music.com) as well as close to 700 tracks for movies, TV shows and music libraries. Credits include films like “Little Miss Sunshine”, “Blood Diamond”, “Friendship” and TV Shows like “Sex & The City”, “Scrubs”, and many more.
After having written and produced with and/or for others over 20 years and making their voices heard, I decided to re-define my musical identity by writing and performing songs reflecting my own, true voice, learning to be authentic and vulnerable with what I share. With my new solo-project MAWK PHOENIX (mawkphoenix.com) I am combining the old with the new, my roots as a guitar player and singer-songwriter with all the cutting-edge electronic production techniques I learned in the EDM and Electronic music. I am also challenging myself to create this combination of sound live by playing with loopers.
